School Partnerships Coordinator

Mrs. Mayra Figueroa-Saucillo

The ‘Lewis University Community Schools Consortium’ (LUCSC) - funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Full-Service Community Schools grant - is a campus-wide initiative that partners with schools and community agencies to embrace the ‘community schools’ strategy. LUCSC integrates knowledge and skills from Lewis University and numerous community agencies to offer activities and services aimed at increasing well-being so that local school communities can thrive.

Mission Statement

To increase students’ well-being, academic achievement, and social-emotional growth by using holistic approaches to expand and strengthen culturally relevant, trauma-responsive, and restorative practices, in collaboration with our partnering schools.

Mrs. Figueroa's Role

As the Partnerships Coordinator for Fairmont School District 89, I ensure that everyone in our community receives the support they need to thrive. Collaborating closely with school staff, families, and community partners, including Lewis University, I focus on building sustainable partnerships to enhance student, family, staff, and community wellness. This includes identifying students and connecting them with relevant community programs, addressing issues like absenteeism, and supporting family engagement. I also establish partnerships to enhance comprehensive health services, ensuring children's needs are met and implementing empowering approaches to engage with students and families. Additionally, I'm committed to practicing restorative and trauma-responsive approaches and coordinating services for healing and prevention. I collaborate with stakeholders, participate in training sessions, and support data collection to ensure the success of our partnership. Through these efforts, I strive to create an environment that fosters engaged learning opportunities for students, and staff, and serve as a positive role model for our community.
